As you can see here is a short animation of a football.
I started the process by coming up with an idea of getting children into sport and developed it from the original idea using a storyboard and notes. After I was happy with the idea using Adobe Photoshop. I imported the video frame by frame this allowed me to create an overlay over each frame where I can trace the frame below using a drawing tablet, this gave me greater accuracy compared to tracing using a mouse as it works like a pen and paper. completing the tracing using the bucket tool I filled in the spacing in to give the animation a cut out effect. On the Mac I used Final cut pro to edit each frame together to make the animation. as it is aimed predominately at children I kept the music and the amount of information to the minimal and used music similar to children TV shows. With the addition of the bright colours it would attract the attention of the children, at the end of the animation I have listed how to get involved with sport in the local area. This information is aimed at the adults, as the children might not have the reading level to understand also required to attend the secessions with their children.
If I was going to do the animation again I would uses a range of sports to appeal to a larger audience of children.
From the beginning I knew I would have little time to complete this section of the unit which has resulted in the animation show, with no variation of sports shown and basic animation, resulting in the animation to potentially be classed as sexist or degrading to women as they are not represented equally. Therefore to improve this animation I will add a variety of sports for both sexes and and age groups to appeal to my target audience with the hope of getting children playing at least one sport for 1 to 2 hours per week. My analysis of this animation is reflected in the audience feedback I collected using Polljunkie an online review site. Although all the responses agree that I had met the criteria for my Target Audience. Below are some of the answers given to one question posed to my target audience. One response said that it could be made longer, I agree with this as I think it was a little bit short. Also three of the responses said that more sports could have been added, but as this was my first time using rotoscoping, I think I did a decent job of doing just one sport.
